Green Action Week (GAW) Campaign 2016 in Haike
Green Action Week is a global campaign intended to raise consumer awareness of the environmental impact of consumption, promote sustainable consumption by encouraging farming communities to produce ecological organic produce, and create awareness on the benefits of organic food and farming, in order to obtain sustainable food. Green Action Week offers stakeholders the opportunity of inter-collaboration to strengthen each other¡¯s activities. It also provides a platform to exchange experiences and inspire each other regarding methods and strategies that deliver positive results.

Celebration and Exhibition of Ethiopian Cultural Biodiversity In Maichew July 27-30, 2016
Cultural Biodiversity (CB) program is implemented in partnership with environment clubs in 24 public schools, at least one from each regional state. Side-by-side with formal classroom learning, with which students have are engaged over their school years, the CB program has created an opportunity to promote the transfer of knowledge and practices through the traditionally established system of ¡°learning by doing¡± in the school compounds and through field experiences.

ISD strategic planning meeting for the year 2016 in Mekelle
Institute for Sustainable Development is planning to have 2016 planning meeting from March 1 ¨C 4, 2016 in Mekelle, Ethiopia. The participants of the meeting will be mainly the administration and program staffs of ISD. In addition, few active beneficiaries and stakeholders are part of the meeting. On the first day of the meeting, the staffs of ISD will present every project and activities that has been implemented in the year 2015. A brief and outlined plan of ISD for 2016 is expected by the end of this meeting.

ISD has planned to conduct a one day EOA Steering Committee formation meeting in Jupiter International Hotel
In November 2008, the Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD), in collaboration with international and regional partners, organized an international workshop focused on Ecological Agriculture for Sub-Saharan Africa at the African Union (AU) Conference Center in Addis Ababa. In January 2011, the African Heads of State passed a Decision to support and promote Organic Farming in Africa. As a follow-up to this Decision, in May 2011, a group of like-minded NGOs from six Sub-Saharan African countries, including ISD and the AU, met in Thika, Kenya, and developed a Concept Note for an Ecological Organic Agriculture (EOA) Initiative for Africa under six pillars, namely: Research, Training and Extension (Pillar 1); Information and Communication (Pillar 2); Value Chain and Market Development (Pillar 3); Networking and Partnerships (Pillar 4); Policy and Program Development (Pillar 5); and Institutional Capacity Building (Pillar 6). The EOA Initiative is being supported by the Swedish Society of Nature Conservation (SSNC) over a 3-year period, 2013 to 2015. It has also secured support from the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) for a 5 year period, 2014 to 2018.

Institute for Sustainable Development is planning to have 2015 planning meeting on February 17, 2015 in Dessie, Ethiopia. The participants of the meeting will be mainly the administration and program staffs of ISD. In addition, few active beneficiaries and stakeholders are part of the meeting. On the first day of the meeting, the staffs of ISD will present every project and activities that has been implemented in the year 2014. The meeting is going to take place until February 23th, 2015.
